GhostLock Geo-Fencing: Set Up Safe Zones That Actually Work

How to set up safe zones for home and office, and the settings that make geo-fence alerts reliable.

What geo-fencing does here

Mark a place as safe, home or office, and GhostLock App notifies you the instant the phone leaves the area. It is the alarm for the theft you do not witness: the phone that walks out of the house in someone else's bag. Install the free build first.

Set up a safe zone

1. Stand where you want the center, home works best, and create the zone in the app.

2. Set the radius generously, at least 100 meters. Tight zones trigger on GPS drift and train you to ignore the alerts.

3. Enable high-accuracy location. Battery-saving location modes delay zone exits by minutes, which defeats the purpose.

4. Exempt the app from battery optimization, or Android will pause its location checks in the background.

Make it reliable

Geo-fencing lives or dies on location quality. Test your zone by walking its boundary with the phone and watching when the exit alert fires. If it is late, the culprit is almost always battery optimization or a power-saving location mode, not the app. The troubleshooting guide covers both fixes.

Combine safe zones with SIM change detection for layered protection: one watches the place, the other watches the phone itself.

Quick answers

How accurate are the safe zones?

With high-accuracy location, exits are detected within a minute or two of crossing the boundary. Power-saving modes make it much slower.

Does geo-fencing drain the battery?

Modestly. Location checks are the hungriest feature in the app, but our tests still stayed under 5% per day total.

How many zones can I set?

Set one for home and one for work; those two cover the vast majority of real scenarios.
